SMS Terms & Conditions for Westlake Psychiatry

Westlake Psychiatry uses text messaging (SMS) solely for communication with existing patients regarding their healthcare. By becoming a patient and completing our HIPAA-compliant intake process, you may choose to receive text messages related to your care.

1. Purpose of Text Messaging

Text messages may include:

  • Appointment reminders or scheduling updates

  • Prescription refill coordination

  • Secure patient-portal notifications

  • Care-related updates from your provider or our staff

We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

2. How Patients Opt In

Patients provide written consent through a private, physical HIPAA-compliant intake form at the start of care. The form includes a specific checkbox authorizing the use of SMS for care-related communication.

3. How to Opt Out

You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message.

You may also request opt-out verbally or in writing, and we will promptly discontinue SMS communication.

4. Help
For help, reply HELP or contact our office directly.

5. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies depending on your care needs. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier plan.

6. Privacy and Data Use

Your mobile phone number and all text message consent information are stored securely in your patient chart within our HIPAA-compliant medical record system.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

7. Patient Responsibilities

Text messaging is not a substitute for medical care and should not be used for emergencies.

For urgent concerns, please call our office directly or dial 911.
